TIMELINE ANNOUNCED FOR LIFTING COVID RESTRICTIONS

Achieving vaccination rates is key; find out more on Monday at virtual Town Hall with Buncombe County public health experts

Today, Gov. Roy Cooper and NC Dept. of Health & Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy K. Cohen laid out a timeline for lifting current pandemic restrictions. With stable trends and continued vaccination success, the state expects to lift mandatory social distancing, capacity, and mass gathering restrictions by June 1. The Governor plans to issue an executive order next week outlining safety restrictions for the month of May.

The state anticipates lifting the mask mandate and easing other public health recommendations, once two thirds of adult North Carolinians have received at least one vaccine dose and if trends remain stable.

What do employers need to consider about encouraging staff to get vaccinated? What are legal considerations of disclosing vaccine status and enforcing masks in the workplace? What is the role incentives can play in encouraging vaccines? Where can employers find resources?

These and other questions on the importance of workplace vaccination will be discussed with public health experts from Buncombe County Health & Human Services in a virtual Town Hall on Monday, April 26, 1 - 2 p.m., titled "COVID - Now What?!" The free event is hosted by Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce.
