More Than 4,000 Pounds of Trash Collected in Our Community
Thanks for Joining Us at the Explore Asheville Earth Day Cleanup!

Thank you to the 100+ travel and hospitality partners and community members who came together for this year’s rescheduled Earth Day Cleanup. Seven months after Hurricane Helene, volunteers removed more than 4,000 pounds of trash and debris from our community, nearly nine times the amount collected last year (460 pounds). With support from Asheville GreenWorks, RiverLink, and Mountain True, cleanup teams set up in five neighborhoods across Buncombe County, including:

  • Black Mountain (540 pounds)
  • Biltmore Village (1,920 pounds)
  • Downtown Asheville (270 pounds)
  • River Arts District (1,130 pounds)
  • Weaverville (150 pounds)

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up to care for our community and shared spaces. Be sure to check out this video that captured the day and hear reflections from some of the incredible people who made it possible. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
